The Beauty of Community

As I reflect on the holiday, beginning with Thanksgiving in Mississippi, Christmas with my parents here in Houston, and then the New Year with authentic and joyful people, karaoke and a roasting pig, I realize, it’s the community of the holidays that makes it so memorable. If you are anything like me you have anxiety with each holiday as you prepare. But this year I did a thing, I decided it would work out and focused on how we spent our time over the holiday.  Turns out this idea of community directly impacts our health.

In the tangled mane of modern life, loneliness can creep in like a rogue strand of frizz, leaving us feeling frayed and isolated. Stats are like a humidity alert, painting a grim picture: studies show over 20% of adults in the US and UK, and 9% in Japan, grapple with this epidemic. But before you reach for the emotional hot tools, listen up! There's a revolutionary treatment bubbling away in the form of community, and it's about to leave your spirit with a salon-worthy shine.

Think of community as a deep-conditioning mask for your soul, infusing it with warmth, acceptance, and a whole lotta laughter. It's the hairstylist whispering pep talks as you braid away anxieties, the makeup artist who knows just how to highlight your inner glow. Imagine a glam squad of chosen family, each member a badass hue in your life's vibrant palette, ready to rock the runway of existence together.

Forget sharing bobby pins and borrowing mascara – community's a tapestry woven with shared secrets, tears dabbed away with gentle fingers, and hearts mended with fierce loyalty. It's the root touch-up when self-doubt starts sprouting, the glitter bomb of joy that explodes over frown lines, leaving you smiling ear to ear. Ditch the isolation poncho, honey, and let community dye your world with every shade of the rainbow. It's the ultimate beauty treatment, leaving you feeling empowered, loved, and ready to strut your stuff like the dazzling diamond you are.
